The ALANA Multicultural Leadership conference was created to showcase multicultural organizations impact on campus, while providing programs for student leader development, appreciation of diversity, and the importance of being an engaged student on campus, in preparation for your career, upon graduation and becoming an alumni.

Students who participate in the ALANA (African Latino Asian Native American) Multicultural Leadership Conference have an opportunity to develop skills that will help them as leaders and managers within their student organizations today, while preparing them for success on their career paths. The Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) is a New York State Department of Education funded program developed to increase the number of historically underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students who are pursuing professional licensure and careers in science, technology, engineering, math, and health-related fields. CSTEP provides structured services which contribute to the academic and professional success of students. SUNY Oswego is proud to bring the CSTEP program back to campus in 2020 after a five-year hiatus.

Rice Creek Field Station's mission is to be a living laboratory for the advancement of knowledge through research, education, and stewardship of the natural world. The Rice Creek property includes over 350 acres of natural habitats, 5 miles of trails, a creek and pond, an astronomical observatory, and a state-of-the-art green building. Located one mile south of the main campus and accessible by the Green Route campus bus, we provide opportunities for students to engage with the natural world through classes, programs, jobs and internships, service opportunities, research, and recreation.

Students Helping Oz Peers —or SHOP for short—opened its pantry in October 2016 as the first student-run food and clothing pantry within the SUNY system. It provides students, faculty, and staff with FREE non-perishable food, toiletries, sexual and reproductive health products, and professional and winter apparel. SHOP is a collaborative effort between on and off campus partners who recognize the need to address food insecurity on our campus. SHOP is located in the basement of Penfield Library to the right of the elevator.

The Student Health Advisory Committee (S.H.A.C.) is a vehicle for student input. This group is comprised of interested students who have volunteered to work with the Walker Health Center staff to improve knowledge and awareness of the Center's services among Oswego State University students. Members help to shape campus health policy, work as liaisons between students and Health Center staff, and participate in quality improvement activities. Vote Oswego is a project to help members of the Oswego community make an impact in all elections by stressing the importance of political participation no matter the political affiliation; making registration fun, easy, and secure; providing personalized support; and encouraging eligible voters to submit absentee ballots or go to the polls.

Important Terms when Voting:
Voting location: A polling place is where voters cast their ballots in elections. Depending on what address the student REGISTERED TO VOTE with; their polling location may not be in Oswego.

Absentee voting: An absentee ballot is a vote cast by someone who is unable or unwilling to attend the official polling station to which the voter is normally allocated. If the student is registered to vote at their home address that is not located in Oswego County and they plan on being in Oswego on Election Day, they should be voting absentee.

Non-partisanship: lack of bias, especially towards any particular political group.
